Affiliate Marketing: The Smart Passive Income for Working Students – Morning Lazziness

Affiliate marketing is a high passive income for many people and could be the best passive income for working students. Why is that?

  • It has a low-cost business idea, and you can learn everything you need to be successful through blogs.
  • Essentially, you start a website or blog that recommends products, and you get a part of all the sales that are made through Amazon or another affiliate network.
  • You can write about any topic under the sun, and with hard work and persistence, expect to make passive income. There are many ways to monetize your site beyond affiliate sales.
  • For instance, if you start getting enough traffic, you can add display ads and receive passive income in this way.
  • You can build an email newsletter and market it to your list. You can start a Youtube channel in conjunction with your site.

Here are the main reasons why affiliate marketing is the best passive income source for working students:

  • The small business setup-idea
  • You can learn everything needed online for free
  • You set your own hours
  • What you put in is what you get out

Tips and Tricks

A good tip would be to write about something you know about and are semi passionate about. It probably isn’t best to write about parenting or golf if you are a working student with no knowledge of either. Other people are writing about these topics who care deeply about them, and their passion will result in persistence that you simply will not have for the topic. Write about your major or your college, your favorite hobby, or something you’ve always been obsessed with and wanted to learn more about.

Try to stay consistent, even if your schedule is unpredictable. Aim for tangible targets, like writing ten new articles a week or getting three backlinks every week. It’s easy to become sidetracked if you have vague goals like “research SEO,” which can also become a never-ending goal with a moving target. You do not need to be an expert in any one topic related to affiliate marketing, you just need to start, and you will learn everything you need as you go.

If you don’t enjoy writing or aren’t good at it, I would say start practicing. If it truly isn’t for you, you can find freelancers on Upwork or Fiverr who will write for you. Go for a set rate instead of a per word price model as the latter encourages fluff, and people will write nonsensical things to increase their billing. Go for quality.

Eventually, if you are expanding your site, you may even be able to hire remote assistants, writers, researchers, and others to help you grow and expand your site with minimal effort on your part.

Benefits to running an affiliate site for working students

Running your own affiliate site is great for working students who have unpredictable schedules. You do not need to clock in at any time, and what you put in is what you get out. You likely want to try and schedule set times to research keywords, write consistently, and learn about SEO (search engine optimization) so your website can rank in google, and you can start making passive income. But you don’t need to answer anybody and can work when you have little pockets of time throughout the week.

Another benefit to working students is the variety of things you can likely write about. Most people who run affiliate sites are working adults who have more routine lives; they go to the same job, grocery store, restaurants. Being a student, you are likely taking classes on a wide variety of topics, meeting new and interesting people, possibly traveling, and generally taking in a lot of diverse knowledge. You can use your surroundings to find ideas for your affiliate site that someone who is more set in their lifestyle would not be able to think of. You have the time and environment to pursue what you are curious about and find the topic or topics that ignite your passion and get you writing.

However, you should keep in mind that this is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Earning consistent passive income is a dream for most people, and worthwhile things take discipline and self-control. You need to consistently be writing and learning about what it takes to make your website thrive. Luckily, there are countless blogs, YouTube channels, and podcasts dedicated to this topic.

There are also paid courses you can buy that will teach you everything you need to know. While this isn’t necessary, you will get a structured course format and a community of students who you can bounce ideas off of and ask for help.
